The Executive Committee of the Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Santander agrees to start the tender that will involve an investment of more than 1,300,000,000 million euros for the installation of pipelines in the dock of the north margin.
Last June 16, the Executive Committee of the Santander Free Trade Zone Consortium unanimously agreed to start the tender for the work consisting of the installation of 3 pipelines from the North Margin dock to the ZFS facilities, as well as the demolition of warehouse No. 10 , with an initial base budget of 1.370.000 million euros and an execution period of 4 months.
Recently (BOE of May 22, 2021) was published the agreement of the Port Authority of Santander by which an administrative concession is granted in favor of the Consortium of the ZFS (for a period of 20+5 years) for the occupation of the land of public port domain for the installation of 3 stainless steel and self-cleaning pipes for loading and/or unloading from the ship in the dock of the North Margin to the ZFS facilities and vice versa.
At present, the project is in the supervision phase at the Ministry of Finance. Once this process has been completed, it will be put out to tender and awarded, with work scheduled to begin in the fall of 2021 and to be completed by the end of this year.
Thanks to this important investment in “piping”, Zona Franca Santander will significantly improve the operational capacity of its liquid bulk terminal and will give added value to the 3,000 m2 plot of land occupied by the old Alfa silo, which will be offered for lease this autumn, being, due to its location and access to new pipelines, particularly suitable to host a new liquid bulk tank facility or a production activity that requires a pipeline connection to the quay.
